Dec. 3, 2024

As students progress through the grades, math concepts begin to get  more complex. Understanding place value helps children in 2nd grade as it is a foundation to number sense and math operations. When a child truly understands the values of a number in depth, they will be able to do the more complex problems and will gain the skills to be confident in their math studies.

Today’s daily knowledge boost will give children an opportunity to explore the place value of ones, tens, and hundreds as well as a slightly more challenging topic of expanded formation.

Lesson 1: Understanding Place Value Ones and Tens

In this lesson children will be introduced to the place values of ones and tens and start dissecting the value of each number. Students will have the opportunity to start seeing numbers as parts with values  rather than a whole.
